Egypt-Turkey rapprochement, an opportunity to resolve Libya’s crisis, HoR’s Speaker says

The Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR), Aqila Saleh, praised the recent rapprochement between Egypt and Turkey, stating that it plays a crucial role in resolving the Libyan crisis and facilitating the withdrawal of foreign forces from the country.

In a statement to Russian news agency Sputnik on September 17, Saleh said that improved Cairo-Ankara relations could help prevent further conflict in Libya and align the visions of parties involved in the crisis, ultimately aiming for a resolution.

Saleh reiterated HoR’s stance on the departure of all foreign forces, emphasizing that “foreign forces are not acceptable in Libya.” He also referred to Turkish groups previously authorized by the Al-Sarraj government, highlighting the need for an internationally recognized government to review and potentially void such agreements that lack legislative approval.

His comments come amid significant progress in Egyptian-Turkish relations, marked by the signing of several cooperation agreements between the two nations.
