Mauritania forms new government under re-elected president Ould El Ghazouani

Following the re-election of Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, Mauritania unveiled the line-up of a new cabinet, led by Prime minister Mokhtar Ould Diay.

The new government has 29 ministers, many of whom are Morocco-educated.

Prime Minister Diay is a graduate of Morocco’s data and statistics postgraduate school in 1997.

Defense minister Hanana Ould Sidi graduated from Meknes military academy in 1978, which was also attended by several current Sahel and African leaders.

Sidi Yahya Chikhna Lemrabet was appointed Islamic affairs and education minister. He graduated with an MA degree in fisheries in El Jadida in 2001 and is also a recipient of another masters degree in science from Moulay Ismail university in Meknes.

Agriculture minister Memma Ould Beibata attended Hassan II agronomic school in Rabat 1982 to 1983 and then went to an agricultural engineering school in Meknes between 1983 and 1987.
