Morocco’s tourist arrivals up 14% in first six months this year
Morocco has received 7.4 million tourists in the first six months this year, up 14%, a pace that let the tourism minister express optimism to attain the 17.5 million tourists ahead of the 2026 target.
The performance of the tourism sector up to June this year was 38% higher compared with the same period in the pre-covid reference year of 2019.
In the month of June alone, Morocco received 1.5 million tourists, up 10% compared with the same month last year.
“The increase in arrivals augurs well for an exceptional summer season and adds to the optimism of tourism operators,” the tourism ministry said in a statement.
The news came as European low-cost carrier Ryanair opens its fourth base in the city of Tangier.
Morocco aims to increase tourist arrivals to 26 million by 2030, when the country will co-host the World Cup together with Spain and Portugal.
