Morocco’s RAM officially tenders for new airplanes

RAM has tendered on April 15 to buy a new fleet of planes as the company opens new routes and braces for an increasing demand by tourists on Morocco destination.

The news was confirmed to Reuters by RAM CEO Abdelhamid Addou, who said the airlines plans to quadruple its fleet from 52 over the next decade.

The same day, RAM signed a deal with Safran providing for aircraft engine maintenance. Safran is among the 140 aerospace manufacturers operating in Morocco.

The Moroccan government has pledged support for RAM under a 2023-2037 contract to boost the airline’s growth strategy.

RAM had announced that the new procurements would help it increase the destinations it serves to 143 by 2037.

Reinforcing RAM fleet is also a boon for tourism after Morocco reported a record 14.5 million tourists last year.

The country expects to attract 17.5 tourists by 2026 and 26 million by 2030, when it will co-host the World Cup together with Spain and Portugal.
