Saint Kitts & Nevis reaffirms its recognition of Moroccanness of the Sahara

The Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis has reaffirmed its unwavering recognition of Morocco’s full sovereignty over its entire Southern provinces, describing the Moroccan autonomy plan as the “only serious, credible, and realistic” solution to the Sahara regional conflict.

The supportive stand was voiced by foreign minister of this Caribbean country Denzil Llewellyn Douglas following his meeting held Wednesday in Rabat with Moroccan peer Nasser Bourita.

In a joint statement, the two ministers said the autonomy plan offered by Morocco for the Sahara under its sovereignty is in line with International Law, the United Nations Charter, and the resolutions of the UN General Assembly and Security Council.

They also expressed willingness to deepen further cooperation between the two countries through the exchange of experiences and expertise in various areas of mutual interest.

Mr. Douglas thanked Morocco for its fertilizer contributions which helped farmers of member countries of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean, and praised the Moroccan cooperation in health, tourism, and capacity building.

For his part, Bourita hailed the good governance, prosperity and stability enjoyed by the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, citing in this regard the transparent and fair elections held in 2022 in this Caribbean country.
