IMF sees Morocco’s economic growth at 3.1% in 2024, 3.3% in 2025

The IMF said Morocco’s economic growth would pick up slightly to 3.1% this year and 3.3% next year, forecasting a return of inflation to pre-pandemic levels.

Inflation would stand at 2.2% this year and 2.5% next year, in line with central bank forecasts, the IMF said in its April global economic outlook.

Algeria’s growth would decelerate to 3.8% this year and would drop to 3% in 2025, the IMF said.

Tunisia’s growth prospects would worsen to 1.9% this year and 1.8% next year, the IMF said in the report.

Globally, The IMF expects the world economy to continue growing at 3.2 percent during 2024 and 2025, at the same pace as in 2023.

In sub-Saharan Africa, growth is projected to rise from an estimated 3.4 percent in 2023 to 3.8 percent in 2024 and 4.0 percent in 2025, as the negative effects of earlier weather shocks subside and supply issues gradually improve, the IMF said.
