Spanish Aerospace giant Aciturri expands in Morocco

Spanish aeronautical group Aciturri is expanding its presence in Morocco through a new partnership announced Wednesday.

Under the new partnership, Aciturri will establish a new manufacturing facility in Midparc, a Moroccan industrial development company, with an estimated investment of $2.4 million (25 million dirhams) planned for equipment in 2024.

The agreement, signed in Casablanca in the presence of key officials, means a significant step forward for Morocco’s aerospace industry.

Aciturri, one of the leading aerospace suppliers in Spain, acquired in 2023 GOAM Industrie, a Midparc-based company, specializing in machining blades for aircraft engines. The company has already created 100 jobs in Morocco, with a target of reaching 150 by the end of 2024.

Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, emphasized the project’s contribution to the strengthening of the national aeronautical industry through developing the engine parts ecosystem, enabling technology transfer, and fostering skill development in the Moroccan workforce.

Mezzour said that the agreement is “a new success story” for the Midparc zone and that it represents “an important step forward in the strengthening of our aerospace industry.” He added that the agreement is in line with the government’s strategy to develop the aerospace sector in Morocco.

Gines Clemente, CEO of the aeronautical group, said that Aciturri is “excited” to be investing in Morocco and that the country is “a strategic location” for the company. The investment will help Aciturri to “grow further internationally” and to “improve our competitiveness,” he added.

He sees Aciturri’s expertise combined with Morocco’s industrial potential as a driver of «new avenues of growth and competitiveness» in the sector.

Hamid Benbrahim El Andaloussi, president of Midparc, highlighted the agreement’s importance in attracting another major player to Morocco’s already strong aeronautical industrial platform. He anticipates this partnership will further increase Moroccan integration in the global aerospace supply chain.
