Libya to launch e-visa platform to attract tourists, foreign workers

The Libyan Committee for granting electronic visas to foreigners has announced plans to launch an e-visa system in view of attracting tourists and foreign workers to the North African country, ‘Libya Observer’ reports.

The Committee, the local media notes, met Sunday January 21 and agreed on the necessity to activate and launch the electronic work visas, in coordination with the Ministry of Labor, in accordance with measures that contribute to regulating expatriate workers.

The Committee reviewed the measures taken between the Passports Authority, the Ministry of Labor, and the Libyan Telecommunications Company regarding the mechanism for applying, paying, and granting visas to expatriate workers electronically.

The country torn into two by civil war since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime following a NATO-backed revolution in 2011, is contemplating reconstruction.

The reconstruction valued at multiple trillions of dollars also requires special skills and workers. Most foreign missions have reopened after the return of a relative calm.
