U.S. offers Benin military equipment worth $2.1m

Benin Wednesday November 29 took delivery of some US military equipment worth $2.1 million to be used in the capacity building of the armed forces of the West African country.

The ceremony took place at Sero Kora military camp, in the northern city of Parakou, local media ‘24h Au Benin’ reports.

The equipment includes assault packs, metrical compasses, ballistic protection googles, detached tents and first-aid kit for traumatic injuries. The offer came in the framework of Border Security (BORSEC) program launched by the U.S. in 2021 in favor of the West African country, the media adds.

BORSEC aims at building the capacity of Benin Armed forces.

Before the delivery, the two countries also inked a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) on intelligence sharing.
