FIFA tournaments: Morocco’s Football continues to make history

Morocco continues to shine on the global football scene with its U17 team making it to the quarters of the ongoing World Cup 2023 after a win over Iran, while the Atlas Lions beat Tanzania in their 2026 World Cup qualifier played in Dar es Salaam.

In Indonesia, the Moroccan Atlas Cubs overcame on Tuesday the Iranians after scoring last gasp equalizer. Following a 1-1 draw, the match headed to a penalty shootout which the Moroccans won 4-1 to advance the last eight. They will face Mali in Surakarta on Friday.

The Moroccan youngsters opened their FIFA World Cup tournament with 2-0 victory over Panama. They lost their 2nd match against Ecuador 2-1 before beating host country, Indonesia, 3-1 to progress to the knockout stages.

In Dar Essalam, Morocco, the 2022 World Cup semi-finalist, defeated on Tuesday Tanzania 2-0. Hakim Ziyech, the Galatasaray winger, scored the opener in 28 minutes from a 40-metre drive, while Lusajo Mwaikenda put the ball in his own net in the second half.
