Morocco to break new tourist arrival record in 2023
Morocco is poised to attract at least 14 million tourists this year, breaking 2019 arrival record of 13 million, tourist minister Fatima Zahra Ammor said.
The earthquake and the war in Gaza has prompted some tourists from emerging markets to cancel their bookings, she told Medias24, but arrivals from the European main tourist emitting markets are recovering with full bookings during the December holiday season, she said.
In the first ten months this year, Morocco had received 12 million tourists, up 39% compared to the same period last year.
Morocco’s tourism promotion plan aims to attract 17.5 million tourists by 2026 generating revenue of $12 billion and 80,000 direct jobs and 120,000 indirect.
