Morocco’s rail operator seeks acquisition of 168 trains before 2030
Morocco’s rail network operator ONCF launched a call for competition for the acquisition of 168 trains from 2027 to 2030 in a tender that would total 1.6 billion dollars in investments.
ONCF is seeking 150 inter-city travel trains and 18 high speed trains, it said in a statement as it also plans to extend the TGV high speed link to Marrakech and later to Agadir.
The new planned acquisition is part of a Royal vision that aims at “reinforcing the national rail network as a privileged choice for a sustainable and inclusive mobility,” ONCF said in a statement.
The winning bidder will also have to invest in an industrial project in Morocco with the aim of creating clusters with local suppliers and export potential, on the footsteps of the automotive and aeronautical industries.
