2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Several African teams choose Morocco as a venue for their matches

Morocco will host nine matches this current November, as part of the opening rounds of the African qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has stated in a post on its website that within the framework of activating the terms of partnership and cooperation agreements between the FRMF and several African football associations, they have agreed to the requests of several national teams to hold their matches in Morocco.

Nine of these qualifiers will be played in Morocco. On November 15, 2023, the El Abdi Stadium in El Jadida will host the match between Ethiopia and Sierra Leone, while the Grand Stadium of Marrakech will be the venue for the match between Burkina Faso and Guinea-Bissau on November 17, 2023. The same day, Guinea will face Uganda at the Municipal Stadium in Berkane.

The Grand Stadium of Marrakech will host the match between Niger and Tanzania on Nov. 18, while El Jaish Stadium in Oujda will be the playground for the match between Chad and Madagascar on Nov. 20.

The following day, Nov.21, Somalia will host Uganda at the Municipal Stadium in Berkane; El Jadida Municipal Stadium will host the match between Ethiopia and Burkina Faso, while the Grand Stadium of Marrakech will be the playground for the Niger- Zambia match. The same day, the Grand Stadium of Agadir will host the match between Sao Tome and Principe and Namibia.
