Sahrawi Movement for Peace holds its second international conference for dialogue and peace
The Sahrawi Movement for Peace (MSP), led by Lhaj Ahmed Barikalla, is organizing its second international conference for dialogue and peace this October 27- 28 in Dakar.
The Sahrawi Movement for Peace, as an emerging political force, represents Sahrawis who do not identify with the Polisario’s political project and aims to bring closer the positions of the Sahrawis from the Moroccan Southern Provinces and the Sahrawis from the Tindouf camps to reach a peaceful solution to the Sahara conflict.
The conference, held at the International Center for External Trade of Senegal (CICES) in Dakar, is attended by outstanding political personalities and searchers from Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
The participants include former President of Burundi, Domitien Ndayizeye; former Spanish Minister of Defense, Jose Bono Martinez; former Foreign Minister Peru, Miguel Ángel Rodriguez Mackay; and political scientist and President of the Argentine Institute of Strategic Studies, Adalberto Carlos Agozino.
Other figures will take part in the event remotely. These include former Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos, and former Spanish Prime Minister Rodriguez Zapatero, who has regularly participated in the meetings of the SMP since its creation in 2020. Since Zapatero left the Spanish political scene in 2011, he has been an advocate for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and for the rapprochement between Rabat and Madrid.
