Spain-Morocco joint operation leads to arrest of Daesh Recruiter in Pamplona
The Spanish National Police on Friday announced the arrest in Pamplona (capital city of the Chartered Community of Navarre) of an individual for his alleged involvement in terrorist collaboration crimes, including indoctrination and recruitment for the terrorist organization Daesh.
This operation was carried out jointly by Spanish security services, Morocco’s General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) and Europol, the Spanish police said in a press release.
Influenced by Daesh ideology, the individual disseminated, through his social networks, radical and violent jihadist material encouraging terrorist actions, the Spanish police underlined, adding that the individual has pledged allegiance to Daesh. He has thus recognized his belonging to the terrorist organization, aligning himself with its objectives and carrying out activities in its favor.
The detainee maintained, for the duration of the investigation, a massive and frenetic virtual activity in accordance with his jihadist ideology, according to the Spanish police.
Thus, he researched, consumed and then distributed to other users thousands of multimedia files of radical nature, containing executions, assassinations, exaltations of leaders…
During this operation, the Spanish police seized hundreds of terrorist self-training manuals relating in particular to the manufacture of explosives, detonators and poisons, as well as advices on how to conceal terrorist activities on the Internet, to carry out secure financial transactions, to use and handle all kinds of weapons, to recruit new fighters…etc.
