CAF President congratulates Morocco on its world-class soccer stadiums, Infrastructure

President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, congratulated Morocco on its “world-class” soccer stadiums and infrastructure, as the CAF Executive Committee held its meeting in the new headquarters of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) in Rabat on Friday.

Following the meeting and a tour of the FRMF’s new premises, CAF chief expressed his gratitude to King Mohammed VI, to the Moroccan government and people, and congratulated the FRMF on its new headquarters.

“The excellent headquarters we visited today and the world-class soccer stadiums and infrastructure in Morocco are good examples of the success and achievements that can be made through partnerships between our African governments and our national soccer associations,” said Motsepe.

The African soccer body’s Executive Committee appointed at its Rabat meeting new members to CAF Referees Committee, including Morocco’s Yahya Hadqa.

“The integrity, independence and credibility of referees, match commissioners and VAR operators are crucial to the respect and growth of African soccer, and we are confident that the newly appointed members of CAF Referees Committee will contribute to the growth and global competitiveness of soccer in Africa,” Motsepe stressed.

The Executive Committee also approved the cancellation of the second additional preliminary phase of CAF Confederation Cup.

This decision means that the 16 clubs winning the second preliminary round will qualify directly for the group phase of CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup for the 2023-2024 season.
