China plans to build industrial complex in Niger capital Niamey

China will build an industrial complex for several industries including agri-food, manufacturing, mining and real estate in Niger’s capital Niamey, Beijing’s envoy to the West African country indicated Monday.
Jiang Feng made the announcement after meeting with President Mohamed Bazoum. He also argued that the future complex is the translation of agreements of April 26 Niger-China Forum that took place in capital Niamey.
China is currently financing an oil pipeline project in Niger after the discovery of an oil and gas field at Agadem, east of the country.
The Agadem II complex is operated by China National Oil and Gas Exploration and Development. The field boasts 650 million barrels. The pipeline will connect the field to Benin for export.
The pipeline construction began in 2019. The installation, 1,950-km long, is expected to convey 100,000 barrels per day.
