Tunisian court condemns cleric to four years in prison for calling for jihad

The Court of First Instance of Tunis sentenced a Muslim cleric to four years in prison for calling youth to jihad during his preaches, “Tunisie Numerique reports”.
The name of the religious leader has not been revealed but the media notes he preaches in the coastal governorate of Mahdia. Tunisia is at war with terrorism and promotion of violence.
The country was once branded as the largest supplier of fighters by the United Nations, for terror groups in hotbed conflict zones namely Iraq, Libya and Syria.
Around 5,000 young Tunisians reportedly had left their country to fight in the ranks of terror groups including the Islamic State, in countries dogged by terrorism. The country itself has been rocked by several terror attacks, most of which occurred after the 2011 revolution that swept away the regime of late President Ben Ali.
