Egypt sets up consulting firm for transport projects

The Egyptian Transport ministry signed on the 19th of June a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with an International/Egyptian alliance to set up a consulting firm that will provide consulting services in the fields of transportation projects.

The Egyptian-French consortium comprises French Aegis Alliance, the International Consulting Company (Sestra) and Shaker Engineering Company.

The new firm, State-owned/private sector company, aims to achieve global experience that enables transfer experience, train engineers and technicians in the transport sector, domesticate technical and engineering expertise in Egypt, gradually reduce dependence on foreign expertise and cadres, implementation of engineering projects and services at similar economic costs, the ministry said.

The ministry added that the joint venture will contribute to the expansion of work in Egypt as a center for the Middle East and Africa, increase international competition and the distribution of initial capital contribution among the parties, eases the financial burden on individual companies, as well as the dependence of all parties on a set of shared resources.

The consulting firm will also provide its consulting services in the areas of transport projects such as (all kinds of feasibility studies – design consulting services – supervision of project implementation – technical assistance – assistance/financial and legal experience – contributing to the preparation of the required documents to facilitate project financing).
