10 people killed in landslide in DRC in wake of flash floods

At least 10 people have died in the province of North Kivu of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) due to heavy rains, after 400 other people were killed in flash floods.
The landslide occurred after Tuesday night heavy rains in the village of Miringati, Lubero territory, in North Kivu.
Administrative head Edgar Kasombolene confirmed the figures. Earlier, authorities reported more than 400 deaths in the province of South Kivu as result of floods and landslides caused by heavy rains.
Heavy rainfall in the Kalehe region of South Kivu province on Thursday caused rivers to overflow, causing landslides that engulfed the villages of Bushushu and Nyamukubi.
