Automotive Industry: Korean group SJM Inaugurates New Site in Tangier

The Korean group SJM inaugurated, Thursday in Tangier Automotive City (TAC), a new industrial unit specialized in the production of modules and interior components of flexible insulation for the automotive industry.

This new facility, which was inaugurated in the presence of officials of the Korean group and the Tangier Med group, is part of the second phase of investment of the group in the region.

Built on an area of 4,800 m2, this site should eventually employ 250 people and will help increase the local integration rate.

Speaking on this occasion, SJM Group vice president Kim Whi Joong said Morocco is a strategic destination for the group because of its proximity to Europe and the Middle East. This new facility will help the group better serve its existing and new customers in these regions, he noted.

“We very much appreciate the continued support of the Moroccan government and the Tangier Med teams to accelerate investment in the region,” he said, adding, “we are committed to continuing our efforts to support the automotive sector in this region, to enable it to reach its full potential.”
