Togo unveils data of recent population census

Togo’s National Institute of Statistics and Economic and Demographic Studies (INSEED) presented Tuesday data of the recent population census, indicating that 8,095,498 live in the African country with women accounting for 51.3 per cent of the population.

The census of the population was conducted from October 23 to November 16, 2022.

Data presented by the INSEED indicate that there are 4,150,988 women, while men count is put at 3,944,510.

The new figures reveal 2.3 per cent of increase compared to data of the last census which was held in 2010. This year count also indicates that Greater Lome is the most populated region of the country. However, the west African country has most of its population, 4,621,706, living in rural areas.
