Audrey Azoulay hails Moroccan King’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with UNESCO

UNESCO Director-General, Audrey Azoulay, stressed, on Tuesday in Paris, the commitment of King Mohammed VI to strengthening cooperation ties between Morocco and the UN organization.

“We know the commitment and importance His Majesty the King and the Royal Family grant to enhancing further the Morocco-UNESCO cooperation”, said Ms. Azoulay during the signing ceremony, held under the chairmanship of Princess Lalla Hasnaa, President of the Foundation for the Safeguarding of Rabat’s Cultural Heritage, of the partnership agreement sealed between the UN body and the Foundation.

Within the framework of cooperation between Morocco and the UNESCO, the North African Kingdom hosted last November the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, said Mrs. Audrey Azoulay, noting that this meeting was crowned with the royal announcement of the decision of setting up a National Center dedicated to intangible heritage.

Mrs. Azoulay also hailed the commitment of Princess Lalla Hasnaa, President of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, which has been accompanying UNESCO since 2016 in its actions aimed at safeguarding the Oceans.

The UNESCO Chief praised the Princess’s engagement and actions for the promotion of environmental education and the preservation of the cultural heritage of Morocco’s capital city of Rabat.
