Quality of life: Morocco leads African countries, according to US magazine survey

Morocco ranks first in Africa in terms of quality of life, according to the “Best Countries Rankings” compiled by US News. Globally, the Kingdom comes in 52nd position.

Morocco ranks first among African countries in terms of quality of life, according to the ranking established by the American news magazine U.S. News as part of the “Best Countries Rankings”. The ranking attributes a score of 12.7 to the Kingdom, which ranks it in 52nd position worldwide.

For the year 2022, U.S. News conducted a survey, which lasted almost three months, with more than 17,000 people from all over the world. A total of nine African countries feature in the ranking. Egypt comes second in Africa (54th in the world), followed by South Africa, in 60th position.

The overall ranking of Best Countries measure global performance on a variety of metrics. The ranking, which covers 85 countries, is based on how global perceptions define countries on a number of qualitative characteristics. These impressions have the potential to boost trade, travel and investment, and directly affect national economies, U.S. News magazine says.

Beyond criteria such as access to food, housing, quality education, health care and employment, the ranking on quality of life also takes into consideration intangible elements such as security, political stability, individual freedom and the quality of the environment.

According to the 2022 ranking, Switzerland is the best country in the world for 2022. It is followed by Germany while Canada comes in the third spot.
