Morocco, UAE discuss preparations of COP28 to be held in Dubai
Preparations for the COP28 (Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change), scheduled to take place in Dubai in late 2023, were at the centre of talks, Monday in Rabat, between the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali and visiting UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies, Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Jaber, and the Emirate’s special envoy for climate change.
In a statement to the media after the meeting, Benali said that the talks focused on “the presidency of the United Arab Emirates of the COP28 to be held in November 2023,” and that the meeting was an opportunity to explore ways to make this event a “success for both countries.”
Benali also expressed the two countries’ determination to implement, in the context of COP 28, win-win projects and work on environmental issues relating to energy transition, climate change and sustainable development.
The Minister stressed that Morocco and the UAE will work together to make this annual meeting a “historic” moment that will shed light on climate issues including those related to the countries of the deep south.
The UAE official also held talks Monday with Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita.
The visit of Bin Ahmed Al Jabe falls in the frame of the distinguished relations of partnership and cooperation binding the two countries.
