Morocco: German tourism professionals meet in Agadir to discuss challenges & business opportunities

The German travel agents association is holding its 2022 annual conference in Agadir, one of Morocco’s popular touristic destinations, to discuss issues related to the upcoming hottest destinations, the impact of Covid-19 on the hospitality & travel industry and carbon footprint.

About 500 representatives of travel agencies, tour operators, investors, service providers as well as public & private decision-makers are taking part in the four-day gathering which opened doors in Tagazout village, on Morocco’s Atlantic coast.

Director of Moroccan National Tourism Office Adel El Fakir said the event is an opportunity to showcase the breathtaking landscape of the Moroccan destination, particularly Agadir which offers the German travelers top-notch hotels, popular attractions and competitive services for every budget.

Germany is Morocco’s third inbound tourism market. In 2019, nearly 685,000 German tourists visited the North African Kingdom.

In October, members of the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) also convened their 2022 convention in Morocco’s red city, Marrakesh. They discussed the economic and policy landscape, the changes in the way the business of travel works and reports on “the New Climate Action Guidebook” and “new Holiday Habits study”.

For its part, the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) held, last month, its annual meeting in Marrakesh to coordinate policies to mitigate the challenges facing tourism amid high inflation and soaring energy prices, aggravated by the Russia-Ukraine war, which triggered a global energy crisis.
