King appoints President of the Supreme Council for Education, Training & Scientific Research.
King Mohammed VI has appointed Habib El Malki President of the Supreme Council for Education, Training and Scientific Research.
The appointment was made during an audience on Monday November 14, 2022 at the Royal Palace in Rabat,
During the audience that took place at the Royal Palace in Rabat Monday, the King gave his highest orientations to the new President of the Council for the optimal implementation of the missions entrusted by the Constitution to this Institution, with a view to promoting the Moroccan school, issuing opinions on all public policies and national issues concerning education, training and scientific research, and contributing to the evaluation of public policies and programs in this sector which is crucial for the future of Morocco, said the Royal Office in a statement.
The Sovereign also stressed the need for the Council, as an advisory institution, to support the reform of the education and training system in coordination with the government departments and institutions concerned, in order to achieve the main objectives of this reform, said the statement.
The reform is meant to promote the quality of education at all levels, realize equity and equal opportunities in this field, upgrade the mastery of foreign languages and encourage scientific research, in order to contribute to the qualification of the national human capital and facilitate the integration of current and future generations in the development dynamic ongoing in the country.
Habib El Malki, professor of economics, held several positions, including that of Secretary General of the National Council for Youth and the Future in the early nineties, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Maritime Fisheries in the transitional government led by Abderrahmane El Youssoufi (1998), Minister of National Education and Youth (2002), and then Minister of National Education, Higher Education, Executive Training and Scientific Research (2004).
He held the positions of President of the Mediterranean Studies and Research Group and President of the Moroccan Economic Center.
Member of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP), he was elected to the House of Representatives in 1997, 2002, 2007, 2011 and 2016, and served as Speaker of the House during the 2017-2021 legislature.
Habib El Malki is member of the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco since 1992.
