EU to grant Tunisia €100m to weather pandemic-related impacts
The European Union, EU, is set to grant Tunisia €100 million earmarked to help the North African country surf the impacts of the pandemic and to support the economy, the ministry of Economy and planning has announced.
The financing agreement will be signed this Monday, November 14, 2022, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy and Planning.
The grant comes as Tunisia faces challenges to drive its economy, hit hard by the pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine conflict and a political crisis.
Tunisia last month reached an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a loan package of 1.9 billion. The pandemic plummeted tourism industry which is the second largest contributor to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
