At heart of Algiers, Morocco imposes respect for its full map

The Moroccan delegation taking part at a preparatory meeting of the Arab Summit in Algiers has condemned in the strongest terms the use by an Algerian TV station of a map of the Arab World other than the one accredited by the Arab League.

The Moroccan delegation made it clear during the preparatory meeting that a TV channel claiming to be a media partner of the Arab League summit -due on November 2- has shown a distorted map of the Arab World.

The provocative state-owned AL24 has shown a map that shows Morocco amputated from its southern provinces, but later it issued a statement apologizing for what it described as “a graphics mistake” after the Arab League protested, saying it has no media partner, and urged the use of its full map which shows no borders between states.

Media sources spoke of protocol violations during the summit by the Algerian hosts. Jeune Afrique in particular mentioned that the Algerian security guard accompanying the Moroccan delegation was found audio registering the delegation.

Morocco and most of the Arab league- to the exception of Algeria- are expected to adopt a resolution denouncing Iranian interferences in Arab domestic issues and its destabilization acts both in the Gulf and in North Africa where it has been arming and training the Polisario separatists in full connivance with Algeria.
