Morocco-Guinea Bissau: Royal message to president Umaro Sissoco Embaló
King Mohammed VI has sent a message to President of Guinea-Bissau, Mr. Umaro Sissoco Embaló, on the strengthening of relations between the two countries.
The royal message was handed over to President Embaló by Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita at an audience Friday at the Presidential Palace in Bissau.
The message dealt with the strengthening of bilateral relations “which are already very strong”, since the visit by the Sovereign to Bissau in 2015, said Bourita after the audience.
The Moroccan official said he congratulated President Embalo and the diplomacy of Guinea-Bissau for the success of its presidency of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Thanks to its action, Guinea-Bissau leads the way in the ECOWAS area and beyond and on several regional and international issues, he said.
During his visit, Bourita held a meeting with Guinea-Bissau’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Suzi Carla Barbosa, who seized the opportunity to reiterate her country’s constant support to the territorial integrity of Morocco.
“We want to maintain the same constant position expressed since 2015, that Guinea-Bissau supports the territorial integrity of Morocco, as we are faithful to our commitment,” the Guinea-Bissau’s minister told the media.
Carla Barbosa said that the visit of the Moroccan minister aims “to analyze bilateral relations not only at the political and diplomatic levels, but also in new areas, namely tourism and health.”
