Morocco: $35 Mln Community Market Opens in the City of Salé Upon Royal Instructions

A new community market, designed to boost local economic activity, opened Thursday in the city of Salé (near Rabat) upon the High Instructions of King Mohammed VI.

Located in the Tabriquet neighborhood, “Souk Assalihine” opened its doors after a five-year construction with a $ 35 million investment. Spearheaded by the Sovereign, this inclusive socioeconomic project, built over 23 ha, meets the expectations of local inhabitants and tradesmen.

The market has changed the face of the neighborhood. It turned the old traditional souk into new modern commercial complex offering shoppers 1,070 premises, 413 shops and several other sites including parking lots, green spaces…

Important financial facilities were offered to the traders and professionals to get a place in the market which integrated informal traders in the organized economic fabric, opening up new opportunities for them to flourish and earn their living with dignity.
