Seizure of nearly 18 kg of cocaine at Casablanca airport, 2 Sub-Saharan nationals arrested

Police at the Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport seized this Wednesday 17.7 kg of cocaine and arrested two sub-Saharan nationals for their alleged involvement in this international cocaine trafficking.

The suspects, aged 31 and 33, were arrested immediately upon their arrival at the airport. They were coming “from a Central African country,” said a statement released by National Police (DGSN), which added that the operation was carried out in collaboration with the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

Six cocaine wafers, weighing 17.7 kilograms, were found in the suspects’ suitcases, the statement said.

The two suspects were placed in custody awaiting the judicial police investigation to determine the local and international ramifications of this criminal activity.

This operation is part of the security services’ efforts to strengthen border police’s capacity to carry out their surveillance operations and fight against international drug trafficking networks, the statement said.
