Tunisia-US: Remains of American soldiers killed in North African campaign to be repatriated
Tunisia will send to the US remains of American soldiers who perished in the North African country during the Second World War.
This came following an agreement between the two countries that was signed Tuesday.
Tunisian top diplomat Othman Jerandi inked the Memorandum of Understanding with Natacha Franceschi, the Chargée d’Affaires of the US embassy in Tunisia.
Per the deal, the North African country will unearth the remains of 2,841 of American soldiers who died and were buried at Carthage cemetery.
More than 18,500 American troops died in the North African campaign led by the US and its allies to flash out Germans in 1942 during the Second World War.
