Spain’s PM on official visit to Morocco at the invitation of King Mohammed VI
The President of the Spanish Government Pedro Sanchez will pay an official visit to Morocco on Thursday, April 7, at the invitation of King Mohammed VI, announced the Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery.
During the visit, the Sovereign will have official talks with the head of the Spanish Government and host an iftar in his honor.
The invitation to visit Morocco was extended to Mr. Pedro Sanchez by King Mohammed VI during a phone call on March 31.
The invitation came after relations improved between the two countries following Madrid’s open support to the autonomy plan for the Moroccan Sahara.
Actually, in a message to the Sovereign mid-March, the head of the Spanish Government said that Spain supports the Morocco-proposed autonomy plan as “the most serious, credible and realistic basis” for settling the dispute over the Sahara, a position that shows Madrid’s willingness to strengthen ties with Morocco and maintain regional stability.
This message confirmed the spirit of the Royal speech of August 20, 2021 in which the King called for ushering a new era in bilateral ties.
The new partnership between the two countries is now on track of mutual respect and trust as well as permanent communication and sincere and faithful cooperation.
