COVID-19: Extension of state of health emergency in Morocco until Sept.30, 2022

The Moroccan Government decided this Wednesday at at cabinet’s meeting to extend the state of health emergency until September 30, 2022, to continue to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of measures taken by public authorities to stem the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Government Council examined and adopted a draft decree, presented by the Minister of the Interior, extending the state of health emergency throughout the national territory until Sept.30.

The state of health emergency, in force since March 2020 and that was scheduled to expire this July 31, seeks to preserve the progress made by Morocco in fighting the pandemic and minimize the danger related to the virus variants.

The state of health emergency enables the government to make swift, necessary decisions and update its preventive measures depending on the epidemiological situation.
