Parliament: Jordan & Peru Reiterate Firm Backing to Morocco’s Territorial Integrity

Speaker of Jordan’s Senate and Head of Peru’s Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee have voiced strong backing to Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara in separate meetings held Monday in Rabat with senior Moroccan officials
Speaking to journalists following his talks with Moroccan foreign minister Nasser Bourita, visiting Speaker of Jordanian Senate, Faysal Akef Al Fayez, reaffirmed his country’s unwavering and constant support to Morocco’s sovereignty over all of its national territory.
He also said talks focused on Moroccan experience in promoting parliamentary action, vocational training, agriculture, water and other sectors of common concern.
Jordan looks forward to stepping up economic relations with Morocco and exploring joint business opportunities in Africa, added Mr. Al Fayez.
The Palestinian issue and the necessary measures to guarantee the rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to an independent State were also discussed.
For his part, Chairman of Peru’s Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee Ernesto Bustamante Donayre has renewed firm backing of his country’s Parliament to Morocco’s autonomy plan for the Sahara under the Kingdom’s sovereignty.
In his press statement made following his meeting with the Speaker of the Moroccan Parliament’s upper house, Naama Mayara, Mr. Ernesto said talks also covered cooperation prospects between the two countries, particularly in the fields of aerospace, automotive industry and renewable energy.
For his part, Mr. Mayara said Morocco is determined to move forward in implementing the advanced regionalization project, affirming that the only solution to the Sahara issue is under Moroccan sovereignty.
He stressed the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries’ legislative bodies which play a key role in boosting Moroccan-Peruvian economic and commercial ties.
