Expo 2020 Dubai: Official opening of the Moroccan pavilion

The Morocco pavilion at the world exhibition “Expo Dubai 2020” was officially opened on Saturday evening in the presence of a large ministerial delegation.

Located in the heart of the Opportunity District, near the United Arab Emirates pavilion and not far from Al Wasl Plaza, central monument of the Expo 2020 Dubai site, the Morocco Pavilion is a platform reflecting the Kingdom’s strategic vision for a more sustainable future and a space offering to visitors a glimpse of the civilizational heritage of a thousand-year-old nation.

The delegation toured the thirteen rooms of the pavilion, which is an artful insight into the duality of tradition and modernity of the Moroccan experience, and which highlights Morocco’s various achievements in the economic, scientific, artistic, and cultural fields. It also reflects the authenticity of the Kingdom and its openness onto world civilizations. The Pavilion promotes a new Morocco which is distinguished by its innovations, its attractiveness, and its cultural influence.

The delegation also visited the pavilions of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and the United States, paying special attention to the markets of these countries, their achievements, and their ambitions.

Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah Alaoui, who was part of the delegation, stressed that Morocco’s presence in this global event reflected the solidity of relations with the UAE, based on fraternity, understanding, mutual respect and multidimensional cooperation, in particular in the political, economic, scientific, and cultural fields.

She noted, in this regard, that UAE’s decision to set up a consulate general in Laayoune in the Moroccan Sahara illustrates the depth of the strategic relations between the two countries.

Held under the theme “Connecting Minds, Building the Future”, Expo 2020 Dubai, which was postponed last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, stretches over an area of 4.38 km. This universal exhibition intends to be an incubator of the most influential ideas, stimulating the exchange of new visions and giving incentives to find realistic solutions to the real global challenges.
