Morocco: Over 26,000 ecstasy pills seized in Casablanca
Morocco’s security services seized on Tuesday in the city of Casablanca 26,600 psychotropic tablets smuggled in from the North of the country.
The police have identified the main suspect responsible for this major smuggling operation and launched a nationwide manhunt for his arrest and accomplices.
This drug-busting operation is part of ongoing efforts made by Moroccan authorities to combat criminal networks and dealers of psychoactive drugs, which pose a serious threat to the safety and security of citizens, said a press release issued by national police.
Morocco’s anti-drug strategy consists of fighting traffickers, distribution networks, suppliers and consumers. It also focuses on prevention, education, medical treatment of addicts and creation of job opportunities for the youth.
