Morocco and ICESCO inked a 200.000 USD Youth and Women Entrepreneurship fund

The Moroccan Minister of National Education, Training Professional, Higher Education and Scientific Research, spokesperson for government, President of the Moroccan National Commission for Education, Sciences and Culture (MarocNatCom), and the Director General Islamic World Organization for Education, Science and Culture (ICESCO), presided yesterday over the ceremony of launch of the “Project to fight against Covid-19 through support for innovation and youth and women’s entrepreneurship “, which is part of the program linking ICESCO and the Alwaleed Philanthropies Foundation to support the efforts of Ten African countries.

A donation of 200,000 US dollars was granted for the implementation of the new Moroccan project to participate in the efforts undertaken by Morocco for the development of the spirit of entrepreneurship among young people and women, especially those from the informal sector with priority for rural areas.

At the end of the ceremony, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Moroccan National Commission for Education, Sciences and Culture and ICESCO, defining the main axes of the project, as well as the governance system approved for its implementation, in addition to the funding mechanisms put in place.

Such projects are seen as a model of constructive South-South partnership that Morocco encourages and allows a new start to the beneficiaries within the framework of the creation of stable jobs, through the successful creation of small businesses on the basis of solid and effective support during the first years of starting up the activity.
