Morocco’s National Statistics Agency (HCP) and the Italian Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) inked, on Wednesday in Rabat, an agreement aimed at fostering cooperation between the two institutions through the exchange of data and experiences.
Speaking to reporters after the signing ceremony, Mr, Gian Carlo Blangiardo, Head of the Italian Institute, said the agreement will broaden the scope of partnership between the two sides and will enable to carry out joint projects serving the strategic interests of the two countries.
He stressed the importance of accurate and reliable statistical data for socioeconomic planning.
For his part, Ahmed Lahlimi Alami, the High Commissioner for planning, said the deal will enhance Morocco’s relations with Italy in various sectors of common interests.
He commended the Italian experience in statistics, saying that ISTAT and HCP are determined to share expertise and launch joint cooperation programs that will set the example in the Mediterranean region.
