Morocco Receives 5 Swiss Rescue Helicopters
Morocco’s Royal Gendarmerie has received 5 helicopters from the Swiss Air Rescue (REGA) to strengthen the response, search and rescue capabilities of the county police of the North African Kingdom.
According to “Forum Far-Maroc” web site, an online news platform focusing on Moroccan Royal Armed Forces (FAR) activities as well as on armaments and defense topics, the EC145 helicopters will enable the Moroccan Gendarmerie Royale to respond more quickly, especially in remote areas, and improve performance in mountain rescue operations.
The five helicopters were used by the Swiss Air-Rescue since 2003 and can still operate for the upcoming twenty years due to their good conditions and regular maintenance.
The EC145 copter is a twin-engine aircraft and can carry up to nine passengers along with two crew members. It is marketed for passenger transport, corporate transport, emergency medical services (EMS), search and rescue, para-public and utility roles.
