Morocco: 19-year old Italian wanted in Belgium nabbed at Mohammed V airport

Security forces at Casablanca Mohammed V international airport Wednesday arrested an Italian national who has been on Interpol wanted list for an alleged involvement in armed robbery in Belgium.

The suspect was arrested upon landing from a Canada-Morocco flight.

Moroccan security authorities had received an arrest request from their Belgian counterparts who on August 5 issued Interpol red notice for the man.

The suspect could face four years in jail for allegedly taking part in March in two armed robberies of two residences.

Belgian authorities have been informed of the arrest and the suspect will be extradited to the EU member country in accordance with bilateral security cooperation and international Interpol collaboration.
