Morocco lowers representation at Bahrain’s Conference
Morocco lowered its representation at the Bahrain workshop on economic portion of President Trump’s Middle East plan, the foreign ministry said.
An employee of the finance ministry will take part in the event, said the foreign ministry in a statement, adding that the Kingdom was invited to the workshop by the governments of Bahrain and the USA.
“Morocco’s participation at this technical and sectoral workshop will be alongside many Arab, African and European countries as well as several regional and international organizations,” the statement said.
The Ministry recalled Morocco’s steady position regarding the conflict in the Middle East saying that Morocco advocates the solution of two states living side by side in peace and stability with an Independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Trump administration unveiled the Middle East Peace Plan few days ago offering to create a $50 billion fund to finance some 179 business and infrastructure projects that presidential adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner will present to a gathering of Arab political and business leaders in Bahrain next week.
Palestinians rejected the deal which undermines their ambitions to statehood and sums up their cause in a matter of economic grievances.
