Addiction treatment center opens in Benslimane
King Mohammed VI inaugurated on Tuesday in the province of Benslimane (Casablanca – Settat region), an addiction treatment Center, carried out by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity for a total investment of 6 million dirhams.
On this occasion, King Mohammed VI handed over to the Association managing the Center, Amicale Bouhaira Slimania social works (ABSOS), a mobile unit to be used for local interventions with drug users, and during various missions ( information, risk awareness campaigns, distribution of prevention tools, transport of patients etc.)
The center, the first of its kind in the province of Benslimane, is part of the national program against addictive behavior, implemented since 2010, in accordance with the royal instructions, to support people suffering from addiction.
This national program, carried out in partnership with the Ministries of Health and the Interior, aims to protect young people in particular against drug use, improve the quality of care provided to drug addicts, and encourage the involvement of civil society and social departments in addressing the problems of drug abuse. It also provides assistance to the families of people in rehab.
The Benslimane addiction treatment center will undertake awareness and prevention actions against the use of narcotics, provide individualized medical and social care to people in addiction treatment process and involve families in prevention actions.
It will also supervise the social reintegration of the patients after rehab and the training of local associations in risk reduction matters, particularly through supporting young drug addicts.
The Benslimane center has a medical wing for consultations in general medicine, addiction and psychiatry treatment, group psychotherapy, and a service for methadone users, an infirmary and a pharmacy.
The new Center includes several other facilities such as artistic workshops, sports and fitness rooms, psycho-education and computer science classrooms, a therapy garden…
The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity set up similar centers in Casablanca, Rabat, Oujda, Nador, Marrakech (Gueliz and El Mellah), Tetouan, Tangier (Beni Makada, Mghogha and Hay El Jdid), Fez, Agadir and Meknes.
