Launch of Several Medical Campaigns to Face Harsh Winter Conditions

Several medical campaigns were launched last week across Morocco to provide the necessary assistance to the local populations in the regions where the winters are very harsh.

In this connection, the Royal Armed Forces have set up, at the instructions of King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the FAR, two field hospitals in Ouaouiziret (Azilal province) and Anfgou (Midelt province).

Two medical teams, made up respectively of 23 doctors and 6 nurses and 16 doctors and 19 nurses, were dispatched to the two provinces, along with medicines and medical and paramedical equipment.

The Ministry of Health on its part launched the care operation, “Riaya 2018-2019”, to provide health coverage to residents of areas affected by severe cold and snowfall.

This operation, targeting 28 provinces in 7 regions, aims at guaranteeing better care for people living in remote areas, through local health services. Besides strengthening basic health services provided at health centers, the operation also intensifies the services provided by mobile medical units and some 163 specialized medical caravans.

The mobile medical units alone are expected to perform 4,248 field visits.

Helicopters will also be available to transport patients to hospital when needed.

Some 2,478 health professionals are mobilized for the operation.
