One Man Shot Dead in a Coffee-shop in Marrakesh, Three wounded Terrorist Track Dismissed
A shootout in a coffee-shop in Marrakesh Thursday evening left one person dead and three others wounded.
According to initial accounts, two hooded armed men on a scooter stopped in front of the coffee-shop and shot at a customer who was sitting on the terrace, leaving their target dead and three other customers wounded, before they drove away on their scooter.
The investigation launched immediately after the shooting enabled to seize the scooter and the murder weapon and also to arrest the assailants.
Assailants Arrested, Terrorist Track Dismissed
The arrest of the perpetrators of the crime was announced by the head of the Government Saad Eddine El Othmani, reports the news portal le360.
“The police have arrested the perpetrators of the murder of Marrakech…” The head of Government tweeted Thursday evening.
Investigators have dismissed that the crime was a terrorist act. It was indeed a settlement of accounts, Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit confirmed in a statement to le360 portal, which also quoted police sources ruling out the terrorist track.
The victim, a medical student, is the son of the President of the Beni Mellal court. The three persons injured include a young woman, who is the victim’s friend, and a waiter.
