Morocco is approaching a key milestone in the development of its Eastern region, with work on a critical section of the highway connecting Driouch to the Nador West Med port complex now more than 95% complete.
The port will have an industrial zone and will offer an exit for industrial exports of Fez and the eastern region.
The 27-kilometer stretch, which links National Road 2 at Driouch to National Road 16, ends just eight kilometers from the future deep-water port.
The overall highway project represents an investment of 7.8 billion dirhams, le360 reported.
Once operational, this particular section will mark the first direct connection of Nador West Med to Morocco’s national motorway network.
It is expected to facilitate road and logistics flows around the port complex, help open up the Oriental region, and strengthen its economic attractiveness.
