Stellantis’s industrial complex in Kénitra has confirmed its key role within the group’s global operations, buoyed by continuous development since its 2019 launch, French trade outlet Auto Infos reports. With the summer 2026 start of production for new Fiat Grizzly and Fastback models, the site is reinforcing its multi-energy flexibility and establishing itself as a major pillar of the automaker’s international strategy.
Inaugurated in 2019, the Kénitra complex has grown steadily in scale over the years, gradually establishing itself as an important site within Stellantis’s industrial network, according to Auto Infos. With the launch of the new Fiat Grizzly and Fastback models this summer, Stellantis is consolidating its position on the international market, the outlet notes, specifying that both vehicles are produced at the Moroccan site and built on the new Smart Car platform, an architecture developed to allow production of vehicles fitted with different powertrains, including combustion, hybrid and fully electric.
The launch of these two models marks a further step in the rise of the Kénitra plant within Stellantis’s industrial network, the trade publication notes, adding that the site is progressively expanding its capacity and role in the group’s strategy, notably through the integration of new models and the adoption of shared platforms across the automaker’s range.
According to Auto Infos, the Smart Car platform is designed to give the manufacturer greater industrial flexibility by allowing a single technical base to be adapted into several powertrain types, responding to shifting demand across different markets. The publication adds that the two new models complement the activity of the Moroccan site, which continues to gain scale within the group’s broader production network.
The development underscores Kénitra’s growing weight within Stellantis’s global manufacturing footprint, as the automaker continues to lean on the Moroccan plant to support its international model strategy and its shift toward more flexible, multi-energy vehicle platforms.
