UK-Morocco trade hits £5.3 billion as British exports surge 30%

Bilateral trade between the UK and Morocco reached £5.3 billion in the 12 months through March 2026, rising 16.7% or £756 million from a year earlier, according to data from the UK Department for Business and Trade.

British exports to Morocco posted the strongest growth, climbing 29.8% to £2.6 billion.

Imports from Morocco increased at a more moderate 6.3% pace to £2.7 billion.

The UK’s overall trade deficit with Morocco narrowed sharply to £112 million from £546 million previously.

In goods, the UK swung from a £205 million deficit to a £160 million surplus. The services deficit narrowed to £272 million from £341 million.Goods accounted for 71.3% of total trade at £3.8 billion, up 21.2%. Services made up the remaining 28.7%, or £1.5 billion, rising 6.7%.

Crude oil led UK goods exports to Morocco at £630.6 million, or 32.1% of the total, a category that did not appear in the prior period.

Refined petroleum fell 54.7% to £197.3 million and cars rose 22.8% to £112.5 million.

Fruit and vegetables topped Moroccan exports to the UK at £644.4 million, representing 35.2% of the total and rising 13.8%.

Intermediate electrical equipment stood at £386.9 million, cars at £153.2 million (up 13.3%), intermediate furniture at £141.8 million and clothing at £112.8 million.

For the full calendar year 2025, total trade stood at £4.7 billion, up 10.3%. Morocco ranked as the UK’s 47th-largest trading partner overall, accounting for 0.3% of total UK trade, 50th as an export market and 43rd as a source of imports. In goods alone it ranked 37th overall and 29th as an export destination.

The UK’s share of Morocco’s total imports reached 2.8% in 2024, up 0.4 percentage points, according to the same source.
