The Moroccan Confederation of Enterprises (CGEM/Employers Union) the National Council of Employers of Mali (CNPM) have decided to relaunch the Moroccan-Malian Business Council to advance partnership between the two countries in various sectors of common interests.
The decision was made during the joint business forum held Thursday in Bamako on the sidelines of the Morocco-Mali Joint Cooperation Commission convened in this African country.
The Morocco-Mali Business Council will be co-chaired by Moncef Ziani and Sory Ibrahima Maiga. The Council is tasked with promoting investment projects, supporting businesses in both countries, facilitating partnerships and proposing measures to improve the business environment.
Over 300 economic operators gathered in Bamako to launch public-private partnerships across vital industries, including agrifood, mining, telecommunications, banking, infrastructure, and renewable energy.
The Business forum was also marked by the signing of a cooperation agreement between Morocco’s National Federation of Electricity, Electronics and Renewable Energies (FENELEC) and Mali’s National Federation of Energy Companies (FENEM).
The forum was an opportunity for Moroccan and Malian businesses to explore joint investment opportunities and exchanged views on ways of strengthening intra-African trade and regional value chains.
They also commended the Royal Atlantic Sahel initiative offering the landlocked countries access to the Atlantic Ocean. This initiative aims to facilitate trading, connectivity and advance regional economic integration bringing in peace and stability to the region.
About 300 academic scholarships are offered annually by Morocco to Malian students. Moroccan banks and companies continue to hold a prominent position inside Mali’s expanding financial, insurance, and construction sectors.
The two countries cooperate in counter-terrorism, border management, intelligence sharing and defense.
